NORFOLK, Va. — Summerlike weather is expected to return to the area next week with showers and thunderstorms likely most days.
A warm front will slowly lift through the region this evening through Sunday morning, bringing a return to the warmer weather. A few showers, possibly a thunderstorm, will be possible overnight with lows in the lower 60s.
The warm front will switch our wind direction Sunday to a more southerly direction, which will clear out the low clouds and cooler weather. But showers, and some thunderstorms are expected to redevelop later Sunday morning into the evening. Sunday will be warmer, with seasonable temperatures in the middle 70s.
The heat continues to build on Monday, with increasing humidity as well, making it feel more summerlike. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop and move into the region Monday afternoon and evening. Some thunderstorms could have some heavy downpours, due to the increased humidity. High temperatures will be in the lower 80s.
An unsettled weather pattern takes over, starting Tuesday, and lasting through Friday. Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s by Wednesday and Thursday, with daily rounds of showers and thunderstorms most days, though rain chances will be a bit lower on Wednesday.
A stronger cold front will push through Thursday night into Friday, dropping temperatures into the Mother's Day weekend, as dry weather returns on Saturday. It will be cooler as well, with highs in the middle 70s to start the weekend.
