International Observe the Moon Night
The NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center and its partner the Delmarva Space Sciences Foundation will host an International Observe the Moon Night event on Friday, October 19 from 7 - 10 p.m.
International Observe the Moon Night (InOMN) is an annual world-wide public engagement event that encourages observation, appreciation, and understanding of our Moon and its connection to NASA planetary science and exploration.
Through InOMN, audiences gain access to NASA subject matter experts, are inspired to learn more about science and exploration, and are provided with the resources and opportunities to see themselves as citizens of the solar system.
The event begins with a moon-themed presentation at the NASA Visitor Center’s Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. followed by night sky observations of Earth’s moon through telescopes on the grounds of the Visitor Center from 7:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Moon-themed movies, hands-on activities and crafts also will be available throughout the event.
The event is free and open to the public. The Moon presentation and indoor activities will take place regardless of weather; however, the telescope viewing is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.
